SMT Shipping participates into KLM’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Programme
On September 18th, SMT CFO Marcel Heijnsbroek signed an agreement with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, officially launching SMT’s membership into KLM’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme. As one of the first maritime transport companies to participate in this program, SMT will now purchase SAF in direct proportion to kilometers our seafarers and staff fly KLM. SAF is a jet fuel made from renewable sources like used cooking oil and represents a 75% reduction in emissions fossil fuels. This is just more important step in our commitment to Sustainability!
