ESG
SMT is a responsible owner and operator, employer and business partner. We believe in doing the right thing even when no one is looking.
SMT'S ESG POLICY
SMT is committed to building a sustainable business by managing adverse impacts on human and labour rights as well as the environment. We are dedicated to ethical practices and committed to the elimination of corrupt practices in shipping. SMT is pleased to be a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN).
We support our global workforce by providing a safe and secure working environment, investing in individual development, and building a diverse and inclusive organisation.
Our health and safety practices keep our employees and workers safe and protected. In communities where we operate, we are committed to playing a responsible role and doing what we can to make a sustainable future.
We have created a Suppliers Code of Conduct to address ESG issues in our supply chain. The purpose is to give a clear guideline of the behaviour SMT expects when it comes to environmental care, safe working conditions and the treatment of others, and ethical practices.
In 2024 SMT published its first Sustainability Initiative Report outlining our environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives for the year 2023.
We want to make a difference.
OUR ESG COMMITMENTS

Social
Our people, on shore and at sea, are at the heart of our business.
We continuously work for an inclusive, healthy and safe working environment, but just for our employees and crew, but we expect the same standards to be recognised by our suppliers.

Governance
Our governance structure is aligned with shareholder and management interests. We take compliance very seriously, and adhere to all relevant national and international regulations. We expect the same standards of integrity and good business conduct from our suppliers.
